Reporting to the associate dean and under the close supervision of the Cosmetology Educational Assistant and instructional staff, assist instructors, students and guests in the WCTC Style and Class Salon by performing supportive duties in the Cosmetology and Nail Technician programs following established policies and procedures.

Positions in this classification perform instructional supportive duties of a routine, standardized nature where instructions and guidelines are available, such as assisting in setting up instructional materials, supplies and equipment in preparation for guest services in the Salon. Other duties performed are of a clerical or custodial nature such as checking guests in/out of the salon, answering phone calls and responding to messages, maintaining records, duplicating materials, maintaining lab, and maintaining equipment and supplies. Work involves some physical effort in lifting and carrying certain items, standing, walking, bending and reaching. Also involves exposure to chemicals and substances used in Cosmetology. Work requires some independent decision-making or judgment within the structure and guidelines of the position and the ability to work with minimal supervision.

Assist in preparing and maintaining laboratory (Salon) setting.

Obtain and set-up laboratory/salon equipment, chemicals and supplies as directed.
Assist in maintaining inventory of supplies and in performing routine maintenance of equipment and/or salon space.
Clean and maintain orderliness of lab/salon space, which may include locking and unlocking lab area, and ensuring for the proper storage, placement, and safeguarding of equipment and product, organizing and maintaining product displays, or other supplies.

Assist Educational Assistant and instructors in the Style and Class Salon.

Distribute and monitor instructional supplies and equipment to students and assist them in finding appropriate materials required for guest services in the salon.
Assist in setting up and demonstrating salon procedures, including Millennium client booking software, to students.
Assist students as needed in their performance of front desk duties.
Record and maintain customer files and records.
Organize and maintain files, materials and supplies.
