The Blind Children’s Specialist I is hired by and reports to the Field Supervisor.
The Blind Children’s Specialist I performs at an entry level/routine (journey-level) and is responsible for assisting children who are blind or visually impaired and their families with counseling, information, support, training and guidance that foster vocational discovery and development while promoting the child’s self sufficiency. Employees in this class provide guidance and information to assist children and their families in making informed choices toward employment outcomes. Services are provided based on an individualized assessment and service plan created by the Blind Children's Specialist I, in partnership with the parent/guardian.
